How a stack of trade show cards became a platform
L-Card did not start in a boardroom. It started with a frustration every networker knows well and a founder who decided to do something about it.
2015
Based in Madison, Indiana, the company launches with a clear mandate: build mobile apps with exceptional user experiences that create genuine value, not just downloads.
The Spark
Founder David Chabukashvili runs out of business cards mid-show, then returns home to manually enter dozens of collected cards into a CRM. He starts sketching a better way.
Launch
The digital business card app launches with a custom card designer, paper card scanner, QR code sharing, and a rich profile page loaded with links, videos, and galleries.

The Founder
From $350 and two suitcases to a global platform
David Chabukashvili is an entrepreneur, innovator, and Founder and CEO of Orange Tree Apps, LLC, the company behind L-Card, a digital business card and networking platform helping organizations and professionals worldwide connect, communicate, and market themselves more effectively.
Born and raised in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, David developed a fascination with the United States at an early age. After earning his Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1994, he began his career managing his father’s manufacturing company and later became the first Country Representative for Pepsi International in Georgia.
In 1998, a business internship brought David to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he discovered new opportunities and became determined to pursue the American dream.
In 2001, David and his wife, Natia, immigrated to the United States with just $350, two suitcases, and a shared vision for a better future. Settling in historic Madison, Indiana, David joined Royer Corporation, where he advanced from Plant Manager to Vice President of Operations and ultimately President.
The Birth of L-Card
The inspiration for L-Card came during a Las Vegas trade show when David ran out of paper business cards. Frustrated by the time-consuming process of manually entering collected contacts into a CRM system, he envisioned a smarter, digital way for professionals to connect.
In 2015, he founded Orange Tree Apps and created L-Card, transforming that simple idea into an innovative digital business card platform.
On March 30, 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic began disrupting businesses worldwide, David was unexpectedly laid off after nearly 20 years with Royer Corporation. What initially seemed like a setback became a life-changing opportunity. He decided to dedicate himself entirely to growing L-Card and pursuing his entrepreneurial dream.
From Madison, Indiana, to the World
Today, L-Card serves businesses and organizations worldwide, including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Border Patrol, Convera (formerly Western Union Business Solutions), Cartier, Keller Williams, Farmers Insurance, CNB Bank, and Masdar.
Under David’s leadership, L-Card has evolved beyond digital business cards into a powerful networking and marketing platform, combining NFC technology, digital contact sharing, lead capture, and innovative tools that help businesses build stronger relationships and grow.
David’s journey reflects his belief in faith, perseverance, innovation, and the opportunities made possible by the American dream.
